What Are the Benefits of Paint Correction?

Fix Paint Defects

Paint correction is the process of removing imperfections from your vehicle's paint job. This can include swirl marks, scratches, water spots, and other unsightly blemishes. A professional paint correction will leave your paint looking smooth and glossy - like it did the day you drove it off the lot.

Save Money on Costly Repairs

Paint correction can often fix paint damage that would otherwise require a costly repair or repaint. Paint correction can be less expensive and time-consuming than traditional methods, and it will  help to preserve your original paint job.

Increase Resale Value

If you're planning on selling your car, paint correction can increase its resale value. A vehicle with a flawless paint job will always fetch a higher price than one with visible blemishes. Additionally, if you're leasing your car, paint correction can help you avoid costly penalties for excess wear and tear.

Enjoy a New Paint Finish

Paint correction can make an old car look brand new. Whether you're tired of looking at the same swirl marks every day or you want to erase years of wear and tear, paint correction can give your vehicle a fresh start. You'll be amazed at how good your car can look with a new paint finish.

When your vehicle sustains a type of defect, whether that be a light scratch, swirl mark from abrasive drying, or even etching or marring from contaminants or other environmental factors, it can be extremely frustrating. How Does The Paint Correction Process At Austin’s Clean Cars Go?

Paint Surface Decontamination

We first inspect your ride as it arrives to us or after we arrive at your location with our mobile detailing unit. Taking note of what is a defect and what is merely contamination, we then hand wash and use a clay-bar treatment to reveal the true condition of your vehicle’s painted surfaces.

Defect Inspection Process

Once we fully remove all notable contamination, both visible and microscopic, now we can do a true defect inspection to determine if the package you have selected is enough, or if you need to upgrade to achieve the ultimate perfect vehicle finish. We utilize a vibrant LED shop light to closely examine every last painted area on your vehicle’s exterior, documenting the real problem areas.

Cutting and Compounding All Areas

This is where our paint correction team begins the detailed steps of the process. Using compounds, we level off your factory clear coat, which effectively eliminates everything from swirl marks to light scratches and marring. The specific package you select here at Austin’s Clean Cars Auto Detailing specifies our target area for defect removal. For truly damaged paint, we traditionally recommend a Level 3 Paint Correction Package, and if a defect is too intense for our services, we can inform you on what it would take to repaint the area.

Buffing and Polishing to Finish

The buffing and polishing stage not only leaves behind a deep, swirl-free gloss on your finish, but ensures that any remaining defects have been remedied. Keep in mind that after we buff and polish, your paint is perfect but largely unprotected against future defects, stains, or degradation. The next steps that should be taken involve one of our paint protection packages.

Paint Correction Always Comes Before Paint Protection

We mention numerous times to customers that we will not apply a paint protection package to their automobiles without paint correction, and find that it pays to explain why exactly. Aside from not wanting to solidify paint defects beneath the ceramic coatings for years to come, there is a bigger reason as to why we abrade and polish away spider webbing, scratch marks, and more prior to a ceramic coating installation.

Product efficacy and ease of installation are two big reasons. When your vehicle’s surface is defective, marred, or riddled with other types of defects, the ceramic coating is going to work its way into those areas. Because a ceramic coating is hand-applied by a licensed industry professional here at our Georgetown, Indiana shop, they are striving for a perfectly flawless, smooth surface that will radiate in glossiness following curing.

Surface defects are divots in your factory clear coat, which means as they install a ceramic coating formula, their applicator will naturally shift when crossing certain defective areas, causing inadequacies and uneven curing. This in turn can also mean the coating may be less effective in those areas.

We at Austin’s Clean Cars Auto Detailing strive only for absolute perfection, so to accomplish this, we will correct your paint before coating it!
